I'm investigating what's out there for a client considering implementing GP. Does anyone have any recommendations for a time and attendance system?

    Hi Michael,

On what version of GP are you planning to do this ?  Until GP 2013, Microsoft provided the Business Portal interface for end-users to enter their Time attendance, either for the HR/PR module directly or for Project Accounting.

This has been phased out with GP 2015 and now the function is embedded into the GP client (either full or Web).

For an extensive discussion about Time Tracking solutions for GP, have a look at this GPUG thread.

We will be installing GP 2015. I'm communicating with our sales team and this question came down from them so as I learn more the nature of their request keeps changing...

It is a manufacturing company, but they aren't doing any labor tracking. Employees just need to be able to enter their time when the start and finish the day. So now the question is more on the hardware side. Do you have any recommendations for time clock hardware that integrates with GP? He's looking specifically for swipe cards, key fobs or biometric clocks.

We have been working with a company called Sierra Workforce Solutions (corrected 06/01/15) and they provide a wide range of 'capture' options for the time clock.  They also feed the data into GP Payroll - both Canada and US - as well as setting up the swipe rules.

Send me an email and I will send you the details of the contact we have there.

Bill, that's the one that I was looking at. Can you email me? I can't find your email. I'm at mscalamogna@sdcpa.com

I suggest taking a look at TimeClock Plus which we are in the process of implementing right now. The implementation is going super smooth and easy. Though we don't use hardware they do have a number of options for physical clocks.

    Hi,

I would take a look at Kronos Workforce Ready http://www.kronos.com/products/smb-solutions/workforce-ready.aspx

It is a very robust cloud based time and attendance system with badge or biometric clocks.  They also have a web clock you can utilize when the clocks are not available or you need to make change/vacation requests.  We use it integrated with GP 2013 R2.

The configuration is substantial but it offers a vast array of options to tailor it to your needs.

They have a small Java middleware application that you install on a server to manage the integration with GP.  Although I was surprised they still used text files to move data back and forth it works just fine.

We utilized Kronos consulting to perform the implementation with us.  My only recommendation is if possible I would find a partner that can manage the implementation.  I found Kronos resources to be stretched too thin and they lacked a structured implementation methodology.

Just to correct my posting above.

The company and solution is called Sierra Workforce Solutions.

They have a great approach to the selling cycle and to the implementation cycle.  They are very professional and I have never had a complaint from any of the clients that have worked directly with Sierra to implement the solution.
