Macros no longer record in Windows 7?

In another thread I think I read that macros no longer record in OS's after XP. I hope this is not true, I have just upgraded my RMS 2.0 store to Windows 7.

My clerks love their macros (e.g. 10% Senior Discount with one click of a pre-recorded function). Can anyone confirm or dispell this rumor. My first attemt at recording a macro was a failure... the designated funtion key does nothing.

Thanks,

Steve

Yeah, we reported this when Vista was in beta and its still not fixed.

Try using AutoIT /www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/  instead,  Its more powerful anyways and free!

    Jeff,

Thank you for post. I have opened a case with MS support, and I will post again after I find out what they say. Thanks for the autoitscript suggestion; I'll take that for a test drive.

I'll mark your post as the answer after I chat with MS support.

Actually you CAN record macros in Windows 7. Thanks to Keith NeuKircher at Microsoft support. It's as simple as adjusting the User Account Controls. Control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Setting > drag slider down to Level 1. Restart workstation.

After recording macros, restore user Account Control Settings to original level. Worked like a charm! Remember to un-pause macro recording as necessary, and start with a fresh transaction with each macro.

CORRECTION: You must leave the User Account Settings at the lowest level, or the macros will not run. (sw)

Interesting, you don't know how many times I asked about this in the last 7 years!
