Transition from outbound to real time events

Hi, 
My client is currently using outbound marketing and a power portal to host event forms. They would like to transition to real time to use the new email and journey functionalities. Is it possible to still use outbound events while using real time consent center, emails and journeys? If so, what should they be aware of?
