Timecard vs. Third Party Timeclock

Have a client on GP2016 that currently runs payroll in house.  They are looking to implement Timecard possibly in combination with a time clock system.  Besides the physical timeclock, which in their case would be used on shop or factory floors, what additional benefits or functionality may come from an external timeclock system vs GP's Timecards. 

Please advise.  Look forward to a response.
