I have given Service admin permission and able to create a new Web portal in dynamics 365, but I am not able to sign-in into the web portal, it says I need to have Admin permission to sign-in to Web Portal.

My question is do I really need to have global admin permission.

    Hi nandan reddy,

You cann't login with your CRM credentials, you need to create a Contact in Dynamics CRM in the contact entity form select Portal Contact Form and create a new Contact, In the ribbon there will be option of Change password, you can create a password from there, also on form there will be a field of UserName, enter your user name there.

On form there will be Web Role Sub Grid, click on + button and add Administrator web role. Now open Portal URL, enter the username and password you just created and you will be able to do customization in portal.

    Thanks,

    Shahbaaz

Do you see a Portals tab in your Site Map?

If you go to Web Site Bindings, what is the value that you see in the Site Name?

    Copy the Site Name and go to https://{Site Name}

Is that what you are doing? Does the portal appear?

What happens when you click on Sign In button? Do you see Sign in Page?

How are you trying to sign in? Go to the Contact record that you want to use for sign in.

Change the form to CONTACT: PORTAL CONTACT, check what the User Name is for the Contact. Click Change Password, and set the password for that Contact. Sign in with that Username and Password. If no Username, in the Portal select Register.

Make sure that for your Contact, there is an Associated Web Role for Administrators (if you need to Administer the Portal).

If you are still getting an error, can you share a screenshot of the error that you are getting if you are getting one?

    Hope this helps...

    Hi nandan reddy,

    I am bit confused

    1. Are you talking about Dynamics CRM Portals like Customer Self Service Portal, Custom Portal, Community Portal?

    2. Did you Install or Provision portal add on int the Dynamics 365 Administration Center Applications tab?

    Thanks

    Justin Jose

    Hi nandan reddy,

If its for Dynamics CRM Portals then the answer is No. To configure or customize the portal then Administrator Web Role is needed. Please see below links to configure Portal.

    Thanks

    Hi,

You need to be Portal Administrator to configure/customise portal, but once portal is provisioned you should be able to login to portal. You can see my post here to add a quick test user: http://himbap.com/blog/?p=2961 you can try to add another user and see if you are able to login or not.

Further you can control security in portal using entity permissions and webroles. You can find more details here:docs.microsoft.com/.../assign-entity-permissions

    Hope it will help
