Hi all,

https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/f/dynamics-365-for-finance-and-operations-forum/404124/move-database-and-application-from-dev-to-uat-or-prod

Based on the above link , please let me know

1. For PROD database access, we need to raise a ticket with MS? Is it for both ( Cloud and On Premises).

2. Can we have direct database access of DEV or UAT?

3. As I saw in Some tables ldata is not copied....

ike Logistics electronic address,  Print management etc.

It having property " SetDataPerCompany" = YES ?  Because data should not shared in other legal entities.

Is it valid reason?

Please give me more shed on this

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Arpan,

    1. You don't have to raise a ticket for copying over PROD data to UAT. You can go to the UAT environment and choose "Move database" and do a Prod Restore. Only thing is all the users apart from the admin will be disabled. You can either enable them from the UI, or run a script on Azure SQL.

    2. You have direct DB access for Dev as it is on local SQL server. You can connect to UAT DB using the DB server name from any of the sandbox servers. You can check this link as to how this can be done.

    3. I don't think any property dictates whether certain data is copied from PROD to UAT. As per the documentation, email addresses, print management settings etc. are not copied over.

    Hi @pr@n,

    1. For cloud instance you can't access PROD DB at all (even if you raise the ticket to MS). If you need to investigate something with PROD data, you need to copy DB to sandbox and if needed from sandbox to dev.

    3. Environment specific data is not copied during DB refresh from PROD to Sandbox. E-mails are not copied to avoid sending to real e-mail addresses from sandbox environment when it will be alive. Also you should always keep in mind when you are doing customization about such cases and write your own script to fix sandbox data when you refresh DB from PROD.

    Hi Sergei,

Point no 1 : I agreed, you said "you need to copy DB to sandbox and if needed from sandbox to dev."

Here copy DB means PROD DB

    Who will do? MS ?

    Hi @pr@n,

    Yes, I meant PROD DB,

You can use self-service action to do this, I provided a link in the thread you mentioned.
