Sales Question - Can GP Var sell NAV

Posted on by 22,647

Can a Dynamics GP Var - tested and trained - sell Dynamics GP NAV?

Are there restrictions?

We have been asked by an implementation partner - that does not want to sell software - if we can sell NAV as this is what has been spec'd for the client.

Just wondering?

Ok, good. That's probably your best bet then. :)

As far as competencies being a thing of the past, I saw that message come through also, but I personally have not seen it impact what you can/ cannot license yet.

Michael, on the name - I get typing Microsoft Dynamics - and GP comes automatically - you are of course correct on the name.

So, wondering on the can I sell - you mention Competencies - thought that was a thing of the past?

If I can see the price list - you are suggesting however that I can not place the order - or that the order is rejected - or not even an option.

The partner we are trying to assist with this, does not want to partner with one of the other Nav VAR's as apparently there is some bad blood.

Anyway, I am in touch with Microsoft Sales and getting them to deal with confusion.

    Thanks.

Technically you can "sell" anything you want, but I think the question is will you be able to order the licensing for a sale/ new client. Now I will say that it sometimes depends on the license model (Perpetual, SPLA, Subscription), but more so you would need the competencies associated with your partner ID to even have "Dynamics NAV" as an option on your form.  So this is the long winded version of "Probably not" :)

It's also worth pointing out that "Dynamics GP NAV" is not a product...it's either GP or NAV....:)

What you CAN DO is order through a partner that has these competencies and then through submitting a  "change of VAR" form, you can have the client attached to your partner ID. I have seen this work around before. Hope this helps.
