    Hi Bryt,

I don't know the model you are using, never worked with it, but I have seen something similar. Well, maybe not that similar, but as an idea... Some LENOVO ThinkPad's machines have fingerprint scanner integrated and I've seen that by using a combination of a small RMS add-on (an DLL that used Hook nº7, launched just after the Login screen) you can use to identify the user. This was not for entering RMS, more was for waiter/table identification, ...and it was sooooo long ago... What I do remember was that you had to use the SDK of the fingerprint scanner for sure, together with the RMS hook...

I have seen that your scanner does has SDK (www.secugen.com/.../sdk_pro.htm), have you tryed to somehow communicate with the scanner? Maybe from there you can get some ideas...

    Hope this helps... A.

    Hi again,

Well, first of all, you may consider contacting your RMS Partner, they may offer you RMS development introduction. Or ask for Implementation guide (which is only for certified partners).

Other options: search this forum, there is plenty of information on how to create hooks (example: community.dynamics.com/.../38816), even there was some example coding...

    Hope this helps, A.

Hi all. The field for the password in the cashier table is pretty big, 512 characters. You might just try going into the cashier setup in SO Manager and swiping into the password field and see if it works.

Else you will have an issue, as I don't believe there is a receptive state to do an add-on when the POS is locked. You could create a button and do a conversion table relating the finger swipe output and the cashier table, and then a control to manage it and a button-hook to run it, but it seems like an awful lot of trouble to accomplish your goal.

    I could be wrong.

Hi Gerald. Like your idea on conversion table, I think I have seen an add-on for restaurant, where swipe-card was used to login, but I must agree with you on one think: it does look like awful lot of work!!

    Best regards, A.

OK, well here's the thing. It is easy for a card. When the POS starts up, the focus is on the userID field. So with a swiper, scanner, or whatever, you can embed the ID, a tab, and the password and enter and voila. But the fingerprint is a whole different issue. I don't believe you can run a hook (I've written dozens) until the POS is live.

By the way, I looked up Skopje. You have a very beautiful city.

    :)

RITE has an add-in for this. I haven't used it though.

this is interesting because what they are doing is using the fact that the POS userid has focus at login. BUT I'm not sure that it is actually using the finger print as a password, it looks like it looks at the print, then looks it up, gets the RMS login info, then drops it into

the login (userid, tab, password, enter). It isn't exactly the same, I think the user could log in  if he knew his RMS credentials set in the cashier panel. Not sold on this one.
