A security filter has been applied to table Sales Header. You cannot access records that are outside of this filter

Hi!

I saw that there was a post about the same type of issue that I am experiencing, but unfortunately there where no clear answers. I always get helpful answers when I ask questions in these forums so I figured I could make a post.

I am currently setting up permissions for a customer i NAV 2018. I have used a security filter on Table Data 36 (Sales Header). The security filter I'm using is Sales Header: Responsibility Center=101. Our customer has several stores (one of them is 101) and I want to limit the Sales Manger's access so they can only view sales orders from the store/stores they are responsible for. This works just fine!

Now to the problem. In the role center I get an error saying "A security filter has been applied to table Sales Header. You cannot access records that are outside of this filter". I want the Sales Manager to be able to view activities in the role center (the blue squares), but it's not working. What am I doing wrong?

I appriciate all the help I can get on this matter.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Eva

    Hello Eva,

Yesterday I ran the scenario in Dynamics NAV 18 and you are right, there is no good way to get rid of this message about "A security filter has been applied to table Sales Header. You cannot access records that are outside of this filter". Within the cue you can set a filter based on responsibility center and then that message is gone. If you however refresh the page, the same warning pops up again.

Best probably is to ask your CSP or partner to create a new cue based on business requirements and assign each manager their own profile. Or you can ask your partner or CSP to raise it to Microsoft support so that we can bring it under attention of the product group and ask them if this qualifies for hot fixing. It could be that this experience is by design though to warn user that not all data is shown.

Thanks a lot and have a great day.

    Hello Eva,

I will try to reproduce the scenario tomorrow. I wasn't able to reproduce the message "A security filter has been applied to table Sales Header. You cannot access records that are outside of this filter" in a later release of Dynamics 365 Business Central. I assume I do need to obtain a Dynamics NAV 2018 release first to get to the same experience.

    Thank you.

    Hi Marco Mels !

Thanks for the reply. Am I doing it correctly? Please see my reply to Nitin. Or should I do it in another way?

    Best regards,
    Eva

    Hi Nitin Verma !

Thanks for the reply. Is this what you mean or should I set this up in another way? Because this is not working for me when I try it out.

    Best regards,
    Eva

    Hello Eva,

Kindly check the Role center ID for that user and apply the filters on the same page. and check again.

     Hope it will help.

    Thanks

    Hello,

You need to set a filter on the role center as well.

    Thanks.
