Upgrade From GP8 to GP2010

Hello,

I plan on upgrading my client from GP8 to GP2010 using the route of: GP8 > GP9 (SP4) > GP2010.

Questions:

1. Is this an ok route to follow?

2. Are there any issues with going from GP9 (SP4) to GP2010 with SP 1?

3. Does anyone have any documentation on upgrading from GP8 to GP9?

1) The upgrade path route looks fine. I would make sure you have the latest version 8.0 and version 9.0 patches installed before beginning.

2) The best place to look for this information is on CustomerSource. Review the "Upgrading to GP 2010" Hot Topic. This will include supported upgrade paths as well as any known issues with the upgrade process. To answer your question regarding 9>2010, version 9.00.0371 and higher is supported in going to GP 2010, although certain service packs may need to be applied to GP 2010 before upgrading.

3) The GP 9 CDs should include the upgrade documentation. The links for the upgrade documentation on CustomerSource no longer work and 9.0 is no longer officially supported so that may be why they aren't there. Let me know if you can't find the upgrade docs on the CD and I'll see if I can track them down.
