RE: Change party association
Hi Shivansh,
There are multiple use cases:
1) When users will create customers or vendors, they might get a pop-up to select a possible already existing party. If they used that option, it might be the case that there are companies with the same name, but are really a different entity. E.g. A company "Global star" might exist in both USA and the UK. If they selected the wrong one, a new party can be created and then change the association.
2) When a user created a customer with a new party number and the same organization was already a vendor in the same legal entity, also this function can be used to change the party on one of the two and link the customer and vendor to the same organization.
3) If vendors were created in multiple legal entities with different parties and the organization would like to start using centralized payments, the vendors should be linked to the same party to create a single payment for a vendor having transactions open in multiple legal entities. You can then also change the party association.
4) In case the user created a customer with the wrong type (e.g organization instead of person), you can create a correct party record and change the association. I wrote a blog about this scenario several years ago: Changing customer from organization to person in AX 2012 - Dynamicspedia
Note that for scenarios 2 and 3 you can also merge party records to achieve the same result.
