Custom Workflow Output Parameters and WorkflowActivityGroupName Not Updating on Installing Managed Solution

Hello All,

We have a client who initially needed a custom workflow with a four output parameters of type EntityReference. This workflow was delivered to them as managed solution.

Later on, they requested to add a new functionality in the same custom workflow for which we had to add four more output parameters of type EntityReference. We also changed the WorkflowActivityGroupName to correspond with the new version of the workflow. This functionality was developed and delivered to them again as managed solution.

However, when the client installed the new managed solution to overwrite the older solution, the CRM is "not picking up" the changes.

None of the new output parameters are available, only the ones that we were there in the old assembly. The workflow activity group name is also the same as it was provided in the old assembly.

Apparently, there is a version management handled by CRM natively. So I tried to update the workflow and workflow assembly both in using the small save button in the plugin registration tool, but this also did not work for us.

One thing I noticed here is that, the Workflow Activity Group Name shown in the plugin registration tool is correct (new/updated one) but when we add the step for the same workflow in the Workflow process, the name shown there is the old one.

This new managed solution when installed directly (not overwriting a existing solution), the result are as expected (Workflow Activty Group name is correct and all of the output parameters are available).

The client CRM is using is Online version of the Dynamics CRM (D365).

Please let me know if there is any solution or workaround to this issue (ruling out the possibility of uninstalling of the solution and reinstalling it).
