When I updated the Opportunity Business process Flow with new Yes/no two option sets, it locks those fields on the existing flow.

Hi

I've recently updated the opportunity business process flow with some new yes/no two option sets but when I go back to the old opportunities, it appears to have locked the yes/no function set and I cannot toggle it on or off. I've also added the same yes/no option sets into the form but it does not appear on the form (I've setup some rules to hide those fields if Opportunity type does not equal to ..). The new process flow seems to work for new opportunities but all the old retrospective opportunities have been locked with a "-".

My question is that when you update the opportunity process flow, what happens to old opportunities? I can understand that you'll need to update yes/no fields that previously wasn't there before but why does it lock all those fields?

Also it appears that the production environment still runs on 8.0 whilst the test has the 8.1 patch. New drop down fields can be edited but all yes/no fields stopped working.

    Hi Nithin

I haven't written any scripts. All I did was replace some of the yes/no fields with new ones I've created in a solution and updated the business process flow.

Now I'm trying to retrospectively update all the old opportunities to the new fields but the yes/no fields seem to be locked and cannot be toggled. Is that what normally happens to old opportunity records?

When you say old opportunities do you mean ones that have already been marked as won or lost? As won't they be read-only meaning you could only update this new field is you reopened the opportunity.

Are you experiencing these issues with any open / active opportunities?

    Hi Neil

The opportunities I'm trying to update are not won or lost opportunities but those that are still Open. Apologies as I should of made that clear.

actually are you trying to clone any opportunity.... using script

    Thanks Nithin

Not trying to clone any opportunities. Just trying to go into some of the existing open opportunities and updating them with the new yes/no fields in the business process flow but it's getting locked

I've put below a screenshot of the business process flow. I've blocked out the field names but you can see the ones highlighted in green has a hyphen next to them. Those are the yes/no fields that I'm trying to toggle but it won't let me.

I can toggle it for new opportunities that I create but not open opportunities pre-solution.

As a quick test I created a yes/no field in my environment and added it to the BPF on opportunity. After a "publish all" this worked fine. (I didn't even add it to the opportunity form and the change worked on lead to opportunity BPF.) When I open an old / existing opportunity I can use "click to enter". So the field isn't locked.

However when I open an existing won / lost opportunity the field is locked and displays as you have shown on your screen shot.

You mention you have some logic to hide these fields. Is that a business rule?

It might be worth disabling that (as a test), just to find our if the BPF is your issue or the business rule(s).

    Hi Neil

Thanks for being so thorough. I've deactivated the business rules and it still does not allow me to toggle the yes/no two option field. The business rule itself, simply hides certain field visibility if another field condition is not met. The only field that I'm having problems with is the yes/no toggle fields as single line text, drop downs all can be edited.

Also I had a similar problem with the two option field type previously and it only appears when the two option field is in the form of a radio button. Once I changed it to a checkbox, it appears to then be editable again.

I've also got another hypothesis. The production environment still operates on the 8.0 version whilst the test environment has the 8.1 version updated. The prod is scheduled for an update shortly so fingers cross that the new patch fixes this issue.
