Direct cost is blank on Capacity Ledger Entries

Hi All

I'm not sure if I'm missing some posting setups but I have added Direct cost, Overhead Rate on my work centre.

When a Production journal is posted, it does create capacity entries with the correct quantity but the Direct cost and Overhead rate is blank.

Can you please let me know if I missed anything ?

Ok, the times do not automatically copy from the routing to the production journal.

The reason for this is you want people to manually enter the actual times taken to get accurate costs.

However, that is why I asked earlier about the flushing method on the work centre.

If you just want to always record the standard amount of time without the need to manually enter it, set the flushing method to backward. It still won’t show the values, in fact, the line won’t even be seen anymore. But the times will automatically be captured with their routing quantities.

Note that your ledger entries are only created when you finish the production order (Change Status).

For the location issue, select the location code at the bottom of the prod order page and refresh the order.

    Thank for your reply.

I have added the setup time and run time on my routing but it doesn't reflect on the production or output journal.

Is it not not suppose to pull it from routing ?

If I manually add the the time I can an error saying location code is blank.

    Hi Chris,

In the production journal, you enter a Setup time and a run time for Output operations and these create the capacity ledger entries when you post the journal. Note that Setup time may not capture costs depending on your manufacturing setup.

If you don't post ledger entries using a post function, you will not record entries in the ledgers.

Alternatively, you can use the Output Journal (Apologies as I mentioned the capacity journal in error).

    Hi Kim,

I have enabled Specific Unit cost and efficiency is marked as 100 still Direct unit cost is blank on the capacity ledger entry.

    Hi Guy,

I didn't quite understand what you mean by time entries to be posted.

are you talking about Start time and ending time ?

I did try that but no luck on the capacity ledger entry.

Have you actually recorded any time entries on the production or capacity journal?

The cost is the amount of time posted x by the unit costs of the work centre.

If you haven't actually posted any time entries, you won't get any capacity costs?

What is the flushing method on the work centre?

If it is set to manual flush, when are you entering times?

If it is backward, have you changed status to finished for the order? Backflush postings are made when the status is changed to finished.

You do not have to have a cost on the routing line! There is a setting on the work center that states you will use the routing line....Select the Specific Unit Cost field if you want to define the work center's unit cost on the routing line where it is being used. This may be relevant for operations with dramatically different capacity costs than what would normally be processed at that work center.

You need also to have an efficiency value.  In  the Efficiency field, enter the percentage of the expected standard output that this work center actually outputs. If you enter 100, it means that the work center has an actual output that is the same as the standard output.

    Hi Mate,

    Thanks for the reply.

Just to be clear again I have setup Direct unit cost on the Work center which doesn't seem to reflect on the routing and doesn't reflect on the released production order even after reloading.
