Hello,

I notice that when I am I am doing an advanced find, when I click on more than one record, the Edit button is disabled, but when I click on one record the edit button becomes enabled.  How can I do a bulk edit on contract lines without having to do an export/import?

    Hi,

if the edit button is gone, means you cant bulk edit.

if this action only done by admin only, i would create a workflow and run them on demand. else i think you have to stick with import excel method.

The edit button is there, just grayed out.  I am the sys admin and I get the same grayed out icon when I select more than one contract line record.

    Hi,

it means, the contract line item is not support for bulk edit.

try the workflow from above suggestion.

If I go down the workflow route, what would it look like?

Right now if we renew a contract the contract lines copys as well but if we need to do a bulk change of effective or end dates how can I do this with a workflow?

    Hi

You won't be able to bulk update the Contract Lines from advance find. Workflow does not allow you to update Contract Line.

But you can bulk update using the following approach.

Download the XRMToolbox if you don't already have it.

    https://www.xrmtoolbox.com/

Then download the bulk Data Updater tool

Once connected to CRM, if you click Open View and Select the Contractdetail entity as shown below

And then select the records from the left and select the attribute you want to update from the right and set the new value for each field and add to the list of attributes to be updated.  Once you set the new values, click Update records and it will update all your records at once.

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

if you want to go for workflow, you have build a custom workflow to receive the parameter ( Eg: Date), and update it through sdk. (require some efforts)

From below picture, the action part would be your custom workflow.

The benefits of using own build custom workflow would be, you can easily change the date through input activity, and you can use advanced find to filter the data and run the rest of necessary records through on demand workflow.

IF you think the workflow is taking too much effort.

You can go for the suggestion by Kokulan or excel import.

but at the same time, I have to remind you, The contract and contract line are going to deprecates in V9.0  So you have to prepare for it. The workaround suggested by Microsoft is using Entitltlement.
