I would like to take my items list and add cross reference numbers/vendors to each.
Can this be done through edit in Excel? If not, can it be done with configuration pkgs?

The Cross Reference Numbers/Vendors are not available in configuration packages. We can get close when attempting to use the Edit in Excel functionality, but do encounter an error related to the Variant_Code field. I have submitted this issue (225301) to development.

There's an update regarding the issue that you raised. It was decided that a comprehensive solution is needed to support the Cross Reference Numbers/Vendors and similar scenarios. A slice (227064) was created to develop this feature.
