    Hi..

We can not edit the managed solution, If you uninstall this solution then you will loose all the data associated with this solution. I don't think we can take the backup of the installed managed solution. You may get this solution who has installed it.

Let me know if you need any more information.

The biggest question:  what do you need the backup for?  If you need to swap solutions around to remove something you don't like, then you could migrate to a different solution... but only if you do things *just* right.

It's my understanding that the Solution can be toggled to "Unmanaged" by altering the internal XML.  From a structure standpoint, there's but one bit of difference between Managed and Unmanaged states.  The true difference comes from how they're installed into the system and what happens when they're removed.  Managed components "supersede" unmanaged components; so the unmanaged layer is always at the mercy of a removal at the managed layers.  What you might need is a "holding solution":  blogs.msdn.com/.../deleting-things-from-a-deployed-crm-2011-managed-solution-package.aspx

It's not pretty, nor supported by Microsoft, but it can get the job done--and it really only works for specific scenarios.  Worst-case scenario is to export the information you must keep, and restore the fields (preferably by a solution, managed or unmanaged)
