Visual Code Problem Updating RDL

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 25

I have built a report in Visual Code following walkthrough link  Walkthrough: Designing a Report from Multiple Tables - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

I have partially built and successfully ran the report in our sandbox. After adding the last steps of the Workaround which makes changes to the RDL (I am using in Report Builder) I can no longer update the RDL in Business Central. It continues to use the RDL content previously used.  If I try to delete the RDL in Business Central via the Report Layout Selection list the system won't allow it to be deleted.

I am now left with a report partially completed that I can no longer update.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

If you can share the error you are facing then it will be easy to answer.

There is no error. The updated RDL is not instal so the pervious one is used.

Did you try to publish your extension again after you finished modifying the rdl file?

    1. Check your layout path for the RDL on the AL File.

2."Ctrl+B" will build the App file. Check that the RDL does have the right information. If it does deploy to sandbox.

    3. Custom Report layout. Create a new Report in Custom Report layout. Select you Report ID and select the RDLC option. Import your RDL File. Test it. If it works. Export the file over your RDL in the Extension folder. Redeploy to Sandbox

Hi, Is the name of the Layout file inconsistent with the one set in your Object?

The extension will regenerate the layout file when compiling, and it may always use the default one.

Alternatively, you can try uploading your layout files on page 9660 “Report Layouts”. More details: https://yzhums.com/24351/

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Many times, but the previously installed RDL is not replaced with the modified one,

Item one - path is correct.

Item two - Yes. I have even shutdown the sandbox and restarted it.

Item three - This has provided a workaround to get the modified RDL in place.  I can use the Report Layout List - New Layout to bring in the modified RDL. The report runs fine with the RDL changes.

I still have the problem of moving a modified RDL in place using Build/Deploy.

Have you tried to deploy the extension to a clean sandbox to check how that works?

    Yes, with the same result.
