Can 1 Dev VM have 2 AxDB ?

Hi,

When we have 1 VM, it is from downloadable VHD from LCS, can we have 2 DB : AXDB ?

Reason is I need to refer to standard F&O along with its Contoso Demo data, whereby in my VM now only have my company Demo Data.

But I also wondering what would happened with the PackageLocalDirectory since I have my customization over there.

Thanks,

I think that what you see in LCS are importable data packages with data for some specific business areas, not full DB backups. Download a package to see it for yourself.

I'm not aware of standard DB backups being available in LCS.

ok, this is probably some stupid question, but since my Dev VM's DB now already replaced (few months ago) with company's data and I didn't have the original Demo data backup DB, am I gonna need to download VHD again ? or there is a database backup somewhere in LCS ?

FYI, I'm take a look at my LCS in SharedAssetLibrary, there is no Database Backup (outside my project) but there are some Demo data package, may I know what are those and can I use it ?

Strictly speaking, the answer is no - you can't have two databases with the same name.

But you can have two databases and switch them on demand. One approach is renaming database - the one you want to use will be called AxDB and other will have a different name. Another approach (one that I use) is keeping DBs with descriptive names and telling F&O which DB it should use. It's defined in web.config; I use a Powershell script to switch it.

Nothing happens with your files in PackageLocalDirectory. It has nothing to do with the database.
