How do you prioritize Accounts or Contacts?

What do you think about having a field in Accounts like "Account prioritization" picklist: 1; 2; 3.
The same can be applyed to Contacts. This is a requirement from our Sales Managers and would like to know if you have other suggestions or if you are using something like this.

Prioritize by what? If you have business rules to be followed when prioritizing, you could build an automatic process (workflow, plugin, etc.) that does the prioritization calculation automatically for you.

Basically, if you have priority flags (index #, color, etc...) you would store that associated with the record. But I would be reluctant to let the users decide by themselves the priority. You run the risk of most records being high priority and never updating.

    Hi S_CRM,

The account priority is for all accounts?

I mean you have 1000 accounts then you want to prioritize them? Or you just want to give like rating, like in the Lead. We have hot, cold, warm status.

Or like a Case can have priority high medium low

If you mean by accounts, then option set is not a good design becsuse imagine you need to prioritize in order all of your 1000 accounts without duplicate priority you need to create 1000 set of number. Better you use whole number but you need to make distinction logic cannot be duplicate if you're thinking can be duplicate then better you have like case and lead concept, only few options.

If the contact I think you want by account for example,  a bank abc is your account, you have 15 contacts of this bank so you need to prioritize them.

Actually crm already has the contact role, such as influencer, decision maker, you can create your new option, for example owner son, owner fiancee or whatever

    Hope this can help you!

    Thanks

Thanks for your help. That status "hot, cold, warm" it's available for Accounts or I'll need to create that field?

    S_CRM,

Account has account rating fiels, so-called accountratingcode, it is an out of the box field you are no need to create again, just modify your option set list.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks

    Hi There,

Account has an OOB Field called "accountratingcode", this is an Option Set. You may

    1. Define you own set of values

    2. Make the field as mandatory by setting the field requirement

This field can then be used to define the Priority of your Account.

You can also use Annual Revenue of the Account to decide upon the Account Rating. This can be achieved by a Business Rule. This will lead to defining the priority of your Account to be consistent.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

    Hi S-CRM,

CRM has the field, out of the box as first time I mentioned, but it doesn't have out of the box values, you need to create new item of option to define your own rating.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.

    Hi There,

It entirely depends on what basis you want to priortize them (The parameters); if you want to rate them like lead rating (hot, warm cold) use field Account Rating as suggested by Mithilesh & add values to the option set as suggested by Aileen

But if in case, you want to priortize them based on the revenue they have generated for you (its a common requirement); you can probably create a new field or still use account rating which would be read only and would be generated based on the opportunity/order/invoice total amount with the help of a plugin; you would need someone to design a plugin for you.

    Hope this helps
