Merge 10 000 "duplicated" Accounts

Hello community,

We have a scenario where we have 10 000 Accounts which are duplicates, one is connected to an old ERP which will be deprecated and the new Account is related to the new ERP.

The problem is that we have a lot of data in the old one, contacts, activities, opportunities and data from fields, that we would like to transfer to the "new Account" and then we would like to delete the old ones.

Which way would you suggest into solving this?

Hi!

if we're talking about CRM, there are a few things you can do.

- If you select 2 records, you have a "merge" button that allows you to move data and consolidate under one record. This is documented on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/user/merge-duplicate-records

- Based on the previous approach, you can also run duplicates detection jobs or create Duplicate detection rules like indicated on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customerengagement/on-premises/admin/run-bulk-system-jobs-detect-duplicate-records and https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/set-up-duplicate-detection-rules-keep-data-clean.

Thanks for your input, i"m aware of those two. But if i want to do it on 10 000 duplicated Accounts and move data from the "old" to new "one" merging will be impossible?

I would suggest checking out a paid for product called Duplicare from https://www.data-8.co.uk/duplicare/ as they have an automated duplication detection and merging tool that looks very strong in this area. I haven't used it yet but I have seen a demo, but the team know more about duplicate management in CRM than anyone I know.

Best approach to achieve your requirement is to Create console application and use CRM SDK to connect to dynamics. Then write code to perform operation.
