Hi,

I am under external audit and a documentation of access to the production environment database was requested.

I know that access is exclusive to Microsoft, but I haven't found any official documentation where there is this information explicitly.

Do you know where I can find this information?

Hi Eduardo,

I can't find the statement quickly either. You can read the architecture documentation where it is stated that some Azure services are used "under the hood": docs.microsoft.com/.../architecture-overview

If the external auditor is from a known auditing firm he should also have some Dynamics 365 experience and know that direct database access is not possible for customers and partners.

Hi Eduardo,

I completely agree with André.

There can be option that auditor get access to D365FO Prod with just read access (i.e. assign auditor with a role that she can have read access to required tables and reports e.g. Voucher transaction.

Or you perform a database refresh from prod to UAT where the auditor can get access to the database via SQL management studio or eventually getting data directly from reporting tool (e.g. PowerBI)

Hi Eduaro,

Why do auditors need DB acess?

Do they need specific details from FO? Can't we provide using OOB functionality/reports?

Is your auditor use a separate auditing tool for which they are looking for a data dump?

Can't you create ER Report as per the requirement?
