Adding Components to new Items

Hi there, hoping someone can help out. I have a few questions.

We have a new item for sale and I need help on how to enter components that form part of this finished good item, how can I do this?

When I try to add any component I receive an error: "An actual cost component can't be used to make a standard cost finished good." What does this mean?

Any help is very much appreciated!

    Hi Sean,

It seems your component item is using a perpetual or average item valuation method while the parent item is using a periodic valuation method. Because standard cost parents track costs in multiple cost components, while actual costed items have everything rolled up into a single material cost. You would loose some detail in the source of costs. Therefore this message appears.

    Regards.
