In the Advanced Filter there are many options when using a date field. I want to pull all Leads that are created before TODAY. There is the On or Before and then you have to specify a specific date. I do not want a "hard coded" date, but always to show everything created before TODAY. Is there a way to do this in the Advanced Filter??

and for this question you can use this filter :
Last X Days = 1
hi
in the Advanced find use this filter for take a report in specify day in the past:
for example contacts created on the thirtieth day in the past:
Last X Dayes = 30
and
Olther Than X Days = 29
Just got this solved myself. Select/highlight the column you want to put the "BEFORE TODAY" filter on-->go to the "Add Column" tab-->Select "Date" dropdown, and "Age". So now you have an new column that give you the amount of time between the date and now. Finally, apply a filter to this column now generically labeled as "Age", select the dropdown, "Duration Filter", "Greater than" and put in the appropriate duration like "0.23:59:59.59"
Basically you are saying, the age of the row must be greater than a day. This worked like a charm for me.
If you are on CRM 2016 or higher - check this blog on how to setup out of the box Advanced Find to find records before today

So I know this is an old post, but I found a workaround that will allow this. Excel does not allow the Advanced filter to use formulas. The Advanced Filter will however allow you to filter by color. To get this to work you will need to use conditional formatting to color the cells for which the date is earlier than today.
All you need to do is select the column with your dates and from the Home tab, choose Conditional Formatting. Add a new rule, choose "Format only cells that contain" from the rule types and choose the following from the drop down list: "Cell Value" and "less than." Finally in the formula field type "=TODAY()" (without quotes). Click the Format button and then the Fill Tab. Choose any color you wish. Click OK to complete the creation of the conditional formatting rule.
Once the rule is created, you should be able to filter by color and choose the color you selected earlier. You can now save this view as a custom view.
What finally worked was a filter on the view
where end date is older than X days where x is 1
or end date was yesterday..
this worked perfectly.
Regards.
This may help you.
Wow almost 3 years after and Microsoft did not fix this issue permanently,
Am trying to create a view for past members.
So the date should be before today.
please how do I do that.
Regards.
What I would do is select "Last x Days" filter and enter value something like "365".
This would bring all the items in last 365 days for that date field.
Mathew
Thanks, that was what I though. Would be nice if I could just type BEFORE TODAY.
