I love the idea for a new implementation of CRM On-line to do all the work in the Sandbox instance and then switch that instance to a production instance (after all testing, acceptance, etc, is completed).
I'm trying to figure out if this is a better method than creating a solution in the sandbox and importing that solution into a production instance.
My specific question is about the URL.
Say I have a sandbox that I want to switch to prod.
Url for sandbox is companysandbox.crm.dynamics.com/main.aspx
I want prod url to be something like companyprod.crm.dynamics.com/main.aspx
Should I just edit the URL while I'm switching the instance type?

I have the same question (0)Hi Kathleen
The correct way is to keep atleast 2 separate instances, a Sandbox Dev and a production. Once you have built and customised your CRM in the Sandbox you should Export the Solution Customisations from the Sandbox and Import into the Production.
So you shouldn't be trying to switch your sandbox to production as this is not the correct approach, but what you can do is a copy your existing production to your sandbox if you require.
Let me know if you require further elaboration?
