To print statements you must run the aging process
To run the HATB report you don’t need to run the aging process.
So, when to run aging process: statements - yes, reports - no.

Joe,
You only need to run ageing before printing statements IF you print aged totals on the statement. Some firms print the total current, total 31-60, et cetera amounts at the bottom of statements. If you are not doing this, you do not need to run the ageing first
We have notes like this in our book Understanding Receivables Management from www.AccoladePublications.com
Frank, I always ran the aging to physically move the invoices into the correct bucket before printing the report but are you saying that by selecting the option Print/age as of and entering a date, this will physically move the invoices into the correct bucket and I won't have to run the aging as a separate process?
Joe, check the date in the 'Print/Age as of' field -
Print/Age as of
Select an option and enter a date, if applicable, to use as the cutoff date for the Historical Aged Trial Balance report. Any document that has a date on or before the Print/Age as of date is included on the report. For example, if you select Beginning of Month, the report includes trial balance information aged as of the first day of the current month.
I always make sure this is set to the current date.
Frank, when in the Receivables Trial Balance Report Options screen and I select Historical Aged Trial Balance, I don't see any checkbox or radio button or anything that says "run the aging process". What am I missing?
The Receivables Aging process in GP does not occur automatically. I always run the aging process before printing by choosing to run the aging process from within the HATB report in the Report Options window.
