Business Portal error

In Business Portal, when I pick Sales Items from the Item Lists in the Inventory Center, I get the message "An error occured while retrieving data from Microsoft Dynamics GP. Administrator, see the server log for more details". In looking at the log, I think the issue is that access is being denied when trying to hit the SQL tables. My question is, what user would be hitting the SQL table.. the user I am logged in as... the SharePoint administrator...??

What version of BP are you using? The page you're using has BDC web parts, which communicate with GP web services to retrieve data. You're likely looking at a web services permission issue. I'd recommend looking at the Dynamics GP Web Service Exception Management Console. That should give you a better idea for your error.

Hi Mark,

By default, the SQL account used to access the SQL data is called "BusinessPortalUser". You should be able to see this user under "Security>Logins" in SQL management studio. (You can find more info on this in the BusinessPortalInstallation.pdf file)

If your having issues that you think might be SQL permissions related you could try running GRANT.SQL to see if that helps.
