CRM 2011 organisation upgrade to 2013 failed - sql exception duplicate key on ActivityPointerBase

Hi

I'm in the process of upgrading CRM 2011 to 2013

Server upgrade went smoothly but when it comes to the organisation upgrade it ended up failing with the following sql exception from the log :

System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. --->
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException:
The CREATE UNIQUE INDEX statement terminated because a duplicate key was found for the object name 'dbo.ActivityPointerBase'
and the index name 'fndx_Email_MessageId'.
The duplicate key value is (0, <20150309-17115912-2b8@RD-HO-WS4.RDTDMZ.LOCAL>, cc8f99fd-486e-4c39-aef7-7dd4d5fdbd0a).

When i checked the subject table in SQL it shows actual duplication for the same message id , not sure if this a common issue or it's more related to our own data

Appreciate any help

Thank you!

    Hi Alaa,

Do you remember what you did to get past this? Im running into the exact same thing, if I delete duplicates directly from SQL the upgrade works. But would prefer a more supported way than deleting records in SQL. Did MS support have a hotfix for you?

Not really, I did not get any help from MS. I just deleted first one of each duplicate record and it worked fine

There was no big risk in my case.
