Edit List showing wrong GL segment?

(0) ShareShare

I have an issue I've never seen before.  A new company was set up and was copied from another.  The GL was set up with an identifying, first segment of "08" to identify the company.  However, when entering a journal entry, the edit list is pulling a different segment code - "07".  This code is for a different company and is not even set up in the company this is happening in.

What could be causing the edit report to pull in a segment number that is not even set up in this company?

Thank you for any input!

Mariano is correct, you must run the SQL script indicated by the KB he referenced in his response; however, if it is not run, you typically cannot log into the newly created test company.  The copy process you outlined is one way to create a new entity. When this is done it is common to use Financial > Cards > Mass Modify to "Move" segment 1 from 07 to 08.  You did not reference doing this in your post.  Dynamics GP will not automatically change an existing account segment based on the settings in the Account Framework.

I assume you did not follow the guidelines provided in KB article 872370 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/872370). Although the article refers to setting up a test company from a production company, there's an all too important script in step 4 that you should have run to prevent references to the company you copied the data from.

You will still need to run this script to prevent any cross-company references. Backup your environment (companies and system databases) and run the script in the KB article.
