Business Central Excel add-in

Yesterday, before Microsoft updated BC Online to 21.0.46256.46853, the Excel add-in was updating BC perfectly.

Today I setup the Excel add-in to deploy as Centralized.

Now I cannot open the downloaded Excel file. I get this error.

I am the admin for this client. I enabled all users to use the add-in.

"you don't have permission to access this add-in. Contact your system administrator to request access"

I have the same question (0)

Hi, Sorry I'm not sure if it's related to your problem.

Have you checked the Excel Add-in Centralized Deployment setting? This is a new feature in the last version (BC19).

Thank you, Zhu, for the excellent information. I re-deployed the Excel Add-in as Centralized and now I can Edit the sales order lines in Excel

I deployed Centralized Excel Add-in's properly. The error changed. I can Edit in Excel, but cannot Insert a new line and Publish because the Sales Order Document No. is Read-Only.

    Hi Steve,

The Highlighted line with red is missing the Sales Order No. and Line No.,

The terminology of Edit in Excel in Business Central requires a Line No. as the blank line no. the system will not understand where to add?

Also, because you're trying to publish a SO, hence also the system needs to know which SO?

To solve your issue simply fill in the missing data Sales Order No. & Line No., or just delete the red line.

Very Important note: if you're using Business Central cloud, you don't need to configure Centralized Deployment as it's made only for On-Prem.

Please if my answer solved your problem kindly mark ️ as an answer.

Hi, I did the same test in my test environment and had the same problem as you.
I don't know what the reason is at the moment, I will continue to look into it.
Hope other experts can give you better advice.

    Mahmoud,

I marked the Document No. and Line Number fields with the correct information. Unfortunately, when I try to Publish those entries are deleted by Microsoft. The error is that they are read-only fields and we are not allowed to edit them.

It seems like a Microsoft error with the Upgrade.

    You mention that

I didn't see that in the documentation. I'll need to look into that. However, I did deploy BC Cloud/Excel as individual and still got that error. The underlying AL Code shows Document No. and Line Number as Read-Only fields.

Thank you, Zhu. I'll be happy to hear what you find.

I also put the question to Microsoft via Velosio Support. I'll post the final resolution.

    Sincerely,

    Steve Simon

Hi, Marco Mels , is this problem of using Edit in Excel in Sales Order Subform a global problem? Or is this the way the new version is designed?

  • mahmoud_algindy Profile Picture

It seems a global problem in v21

Thank you, Mahmood for your response:

"It seems a global problem in v21"

I created a case with Microsoft and will let you all know what they say. No answers yet.

    Sincerely,

    Steve Simon
