Project for the web fade-out and Project schedule APIs

Hi,
My organization is currently automating the creation and update of Projects and Tasks in Project for the web. Right now, we're using Power Automate and Project Schedule APIs to execute the operations in Project for the web.

With the roll-out of Planner and fade-out of Project for the Web, should we expect the Project schedule APIs to be deprecated?
If so, what should we move to?

I already inspected Planner connectors in Power Automate, but they don't cover Premium Plans, which is what we aim for.
Graph APIs via HTTP connectors?

Thanks.
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

I am not sure about the deprecation tbh. However, regarding connectors in Power Automate - what do you mean by "they dont cover Premium Plans"?

There are the following triggers and actions for Planner.

    Kind regards, Adis

Two types of Plans exists in planner, Basic and Premium.

The Premium plans are the ones closest to the 'Project for the web' experience : gantt charts, dependencies, milestones and critical path.
In addition, Premium plans are stored in Dataverse table 'msdyn_project', the same that 'Project for the web' currently uses. Hence, no migration necessary.

(here's a link for the comparison of the two : Compare Microsoft Planner basic vs. premium plans - Microsoft Support)

As for the Power Automate Planner connectors, they only support basic plans.

Moreover, I don't see any 'Create plan' in the connectors below and can't find any in the list of Power Automate actions. So, this doesn't cover my case.

I did however found some informations around Graph APIs using HTTP connector, that could help me in that matter, but the authentication steps seems complicated. I would prefer to confirm if/when the 'Project schedule APIs' will be deprecated before putting any more effort in this....

Ah okay, now I get it.

But then I think you need to use the dataverse connectors instead of the Power automate planner connectors.

Question is, do you have an environment in Power platform admin center that is connected to dataverse, thats the first thing to establish.

Second is, to recreate your flows to use dataverse connection.

    Kind regards, Adis

To answer your question, yes, we have a environment connected to Dataverse. And as far as Dataverse connector go, it's essentially what we're doing right now.

Project Schedule APis works using 'Unbound action' Dataverse connector to execute the CRUD operations on Schedule tables (Plan, Tasks, Buckets, Resources, etc.).

However, this made me think about our own solution and I think I'm starting to figure out what I was missing. 'Project schedule APIs' falls under 'Dynamics 365 Project Operations', not 'Project for the web'. This means that, as long as 'Project Operation' doesn't fade-out, our solution should be viable.

    Hi,

Thats great, as MS is pushing for Project Operations, its more a less a young product.

According to the MS Learn you pasted, seems you are safe. If you want a confirmation, it doesnt hurt to write a MS ticket I guess.

    Kind regards, Adis
