Database Questions

Hello all,

I'm trying to figure out the best way to add new items/tables into Dynamics RMS. I'm running version 2.0 of Dynamics RMS and have access to SQL 2008, but what I'd really like to do is add tables by using existing excel files. These .xls files already have everything that needs to be uploaded into Dynamics RMS.

So basically, what would the best way to upload .xls files into Dynamics RMS? Is there a tutorial online somewhere?

Thanks in advance!

    RE: Database Questions

Use access. I do. Create your tax tables, department and category tables, the assign those numbers to each item in your xl sheet. link your access program to your dataset, import your excel sheet into a table, write a vb loop that writes the items into the database table, and viola!

You can do it in vb or html, but MS Access is built for this sort of thing.

    Hi there-

If you have access to CustomerSource, you can download the import utility. mbs.microsoft.com/.../rms_so_importutility.htm

Otherwise, you can purchase a plug in, such as www.rrdisti.com/.../rr-import-utility.

Can u discuss briefly? What do you mean "adding tables by using existing excel files"? What's inside of .xls files?
