CRM version 9 Deploying a Plugin From Visual Studio does not update until you refresh the plugin Step

Hi,

We are updating our on premise CRM from version 8.2 to 9.

I use the plugin deployment tool found in this tutorial:

https://crmfortress.com/2017/06/02/dynamics-365-developer-toolkit-extensions-for-vs2017/

For clarity purposes, this is what I see when I deploy:

Previously in CRM v8 I could deploy from here by pressing the deploy button above and immediately see the changes.

In CRM v9 this does not work and it took me quite a few hours to finally figure out why.   So in version 9, it is copying the changes up to the server successfully, but they do not go live until I update the STEP in the registration tool.   Again for clarity, as soon as I click the update button below the changes are visible within CRM from my AuditDetails plugin I created:

Has anyone found out a way to avoid having to do this step?

Thanks,

Coty

I missed a step here - when I click the Update button, the step properties window pops up and I have to click the Update Step button.

    you have two options:

    • increment your dll version.
    • unregister and register your plugins again.

    please read this blog: https://blog.thenetw.org/2018/07/10/unable-to-in-place-update-plugin-in-dynamics-365-with-build-or-revision-number-changed/
