Store managing Reorder lvl and points with HQ?

Is it possible to have store set their own re-order levels and have HQ sync up with their lvls? I have known that stores can't create items that hq manages this. I think stores can manage their reorder lvl but its not updated to hq. So when ws 260 is sent with items it will overwrite their reorder info along with everything else in item table. Since our stores set their own lvls and have creating po's on their database it would seem they should have control over reorder lvls and points and hq should at least have option of letting 401 update hq with their changes. I hope I am missing something here that someone could advise me how I might resolve this dilemma. Thanks in advance to all that take time from there busy day to help.

I fully understand what you are saying. I may get with you at some point after I see if the what we might need. We are still in learning curve 2 years in the software. I am learning alot from people like yourself here on the forums answer questions. I have been too your site and I am looking and comparing different products as we do need add ons and some you have. I will be in touch as soon as I can spare the time for the projects. Thanks for your assistants!

Unfortunately, I don't believe that will work just as you would like it too. A 308 pushed Restock information down to the stores, it does not update HQ with what is at the stores. I know its confusing. Basically you would need a SQL script to copy over all the SnapshotRestock entries to just the Restock entries in the ItemDyanmic table. We can certainly whip you up something to make this happen for you, but it goes beyond what I can offer on the forums. Hope you understand. If you know SQL you can dig into this yourself, but make sure you test thoroughly on a non-production system. Otherwise give me a call or drop me an email!

I looked at the 308 and that appears to set reorder levels to the one store or all stores based on what ever value you set. Which would overwrite their own store preference. Each store keeps different amounts based on how big the stores are. So I am not sure 308 would work to achieve a sort of sync.

Thanks for your input on this. We generally let stores do their own ordering and setting the Reorder information. We order for stores if managers are on vacations or unable to do it for other reasons. Then PO planners come into play. So if I want to sync the store reorder info with hq I need to run 308 periodically to keep HQ updated with store changes?

Here's where it gets kind of hard to explain. For most of the dynamic properties, HQ keeps track of 2 versions. One set by HQ, one set by the store. Don't ask my why this is. Basically when you set a property at the store level like Reorder Point, a 401 will push that value up to HQ as SnapShotReorderPoint. This is not the same as the Reorder Point you see by going into an Item's properties and clicking on the Store Quantity tab. To truly have them sync'd to HQ you need to send down a 308 worksheet. Unless you are trying to create PO's for the stores at the HQ level, this should not present a problem.

Ok I guess that was my misunderstanding. I thought 250 updates and 260 downloads new items. So we typically use 260 more often than 250. I guess thats bad practice. I have now disabled the 260 too see how that works just using 250. When SO change Restock lvls and Points does the 401 update hq so both are in sync or ?

Re: Store managing Reorder lvl and points with HQ?
DW, really you should not use a worksheet 260 if you can avoid it. As a matter of fact, we typically disable the ability to create this type of worksheet for our customers so there are no mis-understandings. A worksheet 250 should be capable of sending most data for an item down to the stores. If you take the 260 out of the equation, then Restock Levels and Reorder Points are one of the HQ Dynamic Properties (read per-store). When a 401 runs, HQ Client sends up the current quantity, price, reorder lv, restock pt, tax ID, and a number of others. This will allow you to maintain separate restocking points per stores. Hope this helps.
