disable payment journal per company

Hello

How do I set up security in D365 F&O AX 2012 to disable AP payment journals from users posting in a specific company?

Example

Users should not allow posting any payment journals in A company but when they are in company B and C they can access AP payments and post them?

Thank you!

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

You can do this by restricting the role by organization wise from user->>> select the roles->>Assign  organizations.

so in that case I would need to review all users in system with the accounting manager role that has access to this form and revoke each one from that specific company? Is that correct?

    Hi TechGirl20,

I have moved your question to the Dynamics 365 Finance forum.

It is not about just revoking access. If no organizations are assigned, the role will grant access to the features in all legal entities. With the organization assignment, you can then limit for which companies the user will get access.

If the accounting manager has other permissions where they still need access in company A, then you should consider assigning different roles and organization assignments.

E.g. Have a base accounting manager role having access to all the legal entities and another role with permissions for the payment journal and assign companies B and C.

so just so I am clear

leave standard role "accounting manager" where they have all access to payment journals in all companies to A B C

then create a custom role "basically the duplicate role of accounting manager restricting access to payment journal form revoking access in company A but leaving access to company B and C

if you can post with screenshots and a better example that would be great The ask here is if example there are 3 companies

    A can post payment journals

    B can post payment journals

C Restrict access to post payment journals only for users

I have though about this and it looks like this will need to be done by a dev and not by configuration.... because even if you create a role how are you restricting that specific role to not be able to post in a specific company

If I am missing step I would be thankful for a better scenario screenshot and step with your thoughts

    Hi,

Your requirement does not need development, check this blog community.dynamics.com/.../how-to-assign-organization-for-user-role-in-dynamics-365

I checked the blog but this is not for 2012 (guessing it works similar) .....I am not understanding how I would setup the org hieracy to not allow the users with that specific security role to not be able to post in a specific company but still have access to the company? Do you have any documentation on the org hieracy and how I would set that up since the grant children button is currently gryed out? thanks

You started this thread by "How do I set up security in D365 F&O to disable AP payment journals...". Are you now saying that it was wrong and you're actially interested in AX 2012 instead of F&O?

yes it is for 2012 sorry for the error
