Fixed Assets Depreciation on fully depreciated fixed assets

We have a client that's running on MS Dynamics GP 2013.  They ran the Fixed Asset depreciation for October last month, and the Fixed Asset Journal entry that generated is $50K higher because of depreciated that was generated for Fixed Assets that were already fully depreciated.  Does anyone know why it would have done this?

Thank you for your assistance in advance!

    Guru -

Is it possible the assets involved have a depreciation method other than straight line and have no switchover method assigned? If this is the case, the Net Book Value of the Asset never reaches zero...

No, all of the assets have straight line method of depreciation and none were switched.  I did notice in the last troubleshooting session with the client that they had been advised to run a GL interface process, as described below with a starting period and year of 0000-00.  Would some of the left out transactions described be picked up in the current month's depreciation they are running and depreciate these fixed assets that had been fully depreciated already?

I have found users do not run the GL Interface for prior periods - this can lead to an accumulation of Fixed Asset transactions, which were never properly interfaced with the GL. In order to catch all these prior period transactions, select a starting period and year of 0000-000

If not, any other ideas what may have caused this issue?

    Thank you in advance.

Running the GL interface process for all prior periods (0000-000) to present will indeed pick up Fixed Asset transactions which were never properly interfaced with the GL. This can indeed cause issues. If the Fixed Asset Sub-ledger balances to the General Ledger as of a specific cut-over date, and GL Transactions from prior to this cut-over date are interfaced, then serious problems can result. It is typical after a cut-over date to depreciate up to that period, interface to the GL and delete that batch (because the GL already contains the depreciation entries); you are simply making the FA sub-ledger match the General Ledger...  It sounds to me like this process might not have been performed properly.
