Dear All,

We have Development environment. we wants to take FULL (Application and Database) backup from Development environment and restore in to UAT environment.

Means as per customer requirement both (DEV and UAT) environment should be same.

Please let me know the full process.

Please give me more shed on this.

Thanks!

Arpan

Application cannot be backed up/restored, only your SQL databases.

To make sure the application and third party tools are matching, you need to use the same installer kits/hotfixes/third party tool setups to match the application in your UAT environment against Dev. A good starting point is usually if you keep an updated documentation about how was the environment installed and configured from scratch, then you just have to follow those steps when deploying a new environment (or trying to "synchronize" them to match).

For SQL Server, it is just a matter of SQL Server database backup and restore, then making sure that if the AX AOS service accounts or any other accounts that need DB access are granted proper access against the database, TempDB, or any other DBs involved.

AOD files are not relevant for AX 2012, those existed for old versions. Code and objects are now fully DB modelstore-based.

(You did not use search again... it is in the documentation)

    Ohh... Sorry

So, MS Dynamics AX and MS DynamicsAX_Model is enough for application and database backup right?

Please give me more shed on this.

    Thanks!

The two databases are enough to be backed up to restore the databases. You need to ensure you have installed any AX AOS/Client or any other components that matches the version of the AX databases, since the modelstore keeps record of that. You cannot start the AX AOS with a version earlier than your modelstore.

The snapshot is The way to take full back from application and databases

So if your customer have VM you can take snapshot periodically

Otherwise as vilmos said, you need to back up and restore databases
