Sales Order pricing for BOM and stand alone sale

We are trying to setup pricing for products that are sold in the BOM and sold alone. The products are sold at a lower cost when part of the BOM. 

I am able to calculate a sales price for the BOM that is lower then the stand alone price. However, when i explode the BOM on the sales order line the stand alone price is entered not the price that calculated from the BOM.

Does anyone know how this kind of pricing can be handled?

    Hi,

    When you use report as finished to assemble a BOM in your inventory, you don't have to use the Explode BOM version. This function replaces the BOM for the real items.

    Thanks for your input.  Can you explain a bit more? The BOM is being used really as a phantom BOM. We are exploding the BOM lines from the sales order so warehouse knows what products to pick. a new inventory product is not being created.

    To have the item sold at a different price you would need to customize it to stop the standard explosion in a standard manner. What you could do it put it into the BOM at a different UOM or sell from a different warehouse and then hold two prices in the trade agreements.

    The explosion re-reads the pricing to get the prices because once you explode it is no longer part of a BOM and therefore the logic employed is to get the next price.

    I have worked with businesses that explode to pick and to print on the invoice to customers but as well as pricing there is also other considerations because users will add discount to effectively discounted lines, and you might not want to print prices by line (so the invoice is altered but you need a check on parent price to components etc.)

    Basically once you explode it is no longer part of the BOM and pricing logic etc is re-read, you need to customize to stop this or configure your pricing and processes to handle it.
