Subscription Center Form - Error After Submit

Hi there,

I created a marketing form with the form type "Subscription Center". This marketing form has a "Form level double opt-In" set up and will be embedded on our website.

Obviously, before we are embedding the form on our website, I would like to test the whole process to be sure it works. All the components are live and I created a form hosting website to get the script or iFrame for embedding.

To test the process I copied the link out of the iFrame from the form page and opened it in a new tab.

Opening the link a new tab, looks as follows:

I hope this error will not appear when I embed the form on our website. Clicking on "show form anyway" shows me the form I created:

After filling out the form, choosing the subscription and submitting I always get the following error:

Clicking on try again is not reloading the form. It is just a blank page. The same happens for the marketing page (Subscription Center) I created that contains the form.

I open the Full page URL that is under summary and filling out the form that is embedded in the marketing page and after submitting I get an error.

RE: Subscription Center Form - Error After Submit

    Hi Thomas,

From a business perspective the subscription center works like an unsubscribe from newsletter email. The links and center itself is specific per customer and shows their own choices, therefore works via specific link that is sent to them in an email only. And this is why, for testing purposes, you can see the form, although cannot process a submission. The behavior is the same as if the customer would click the unsubscribe button below an email that you have sent. They can view their current selections and subscriptions, and adjust personal selections. This also protects their data and consent privacy.

Whereas, the landing page type form is for multiple form submission collections coming from an externally open webpage where users can come to the page and submit a form as they wish. That is the key difference between subscription centers and landing page forms. It seems like in your case it is better to use a landing page type form.

Check out the documentation about form types for more details: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/marketing-forms

    I hope this helps,

    Defne

    Hi Thomas,

The outcome of enabling form level double opt-in is different to the customer journey I explained.

Form DOI is used for confirmation messages for a newsletter subscription.

For example, if contact ticked "Weekly newsletter" option, a confirmation email will be sent to his/her mailbox, the person won't be added to corresponding list unless he/she clicks the confirmation button of the email.

Please refer to purpose of form DOI:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/form-double-opt-in

    Regards,

    Clofly

    Hi,

I saw there is also the option to create a form level double opt-in with the form type landing page.

Isn't the outcome the same as what you are explaining with a customer journey?

    Hi Thomas,

We can also add subscription lists to standard marketing pages, which enables inbound (previously unknown) contacts to sign up for one or more mailing lists at the same time they register.

In other word, you could add subscription lists to landing page type form.

Then create a segment to query contacts who submitted the form and run a customer journey to send an email "Please review your subscription" to those members, the email may contains a button "Manage your subscription": they can manage their subscription via link of the button.

(In subscription center page, they will see lists which they had chosen on the first form were already ticked.)

    Regards,

    Clofly

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm a bit surprised to be honest. I can not just embed the subscription center form on our website so people can register for our newsletter?

How can I reach that? Do I have to create a different marketing form type?

RE: Subscription Center Form - Error After Submit

    Hi Thomas,

Either marketing page or our own external web page, the subscription center form only works when we open it via the link of marketing email.

(And we will see each fields are prefilled.)

To test subscription center form, please create a simple customer journey to send marketing email to your test contact.

(In addition, remember to create a content settings record whose subscription center field is set to URL of your page, then apply it to customer journey.)
