Licensing Cost/Features comparison - FS Mobile App vs Resco Mobile CRM

Hello everyone,

I read that the FS Mobile (Xamarin app) will retire on June 2022 and it will no longer be available and I found that there is another app by Resco which is Resco Mobile CRM.

I have concerns regarding the new D365 FS mobile app vs Resco Mobile CRM as below:

  1. Is there any documentation that compared the features of the Resco Mobile CRM vs the D365 FS mobile app?
  2. The new FS mobile app requires the users to be fully licensed as D365 FS - 95$/user/month - lets say I need to implement the new FS mobile app (provided by Microsoft) for around 60 technicians.
    The question is:

If UserA has 1 FS base license and they purchased an attach license and assign it to UserB - does subsequent pricing apply to UserB which will grant him access to all FS features including the mobile app?

If so, please correct me if am wrong regarding the estimated cost of licenses for all technicians:

  • 1x95/user/month(base license) for User A
  • Hence, (20$x59 (Technician) = 1180$/month)

        3. If the above will not work, then the cost will be 95$/user/month:

  • 60(technician)x95= 5700$/month

       4. Which point will work regarding the licensing cost (2 or 3)?

       5. What are the advantages/disadvantages between Resco Mobile CRM vs D365 FS mobile app?

Could you please provide your answers regarding the above in detail with some helpful resources?

I hope that my concerns are clear, please let me know if you need any further information.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Best regards,
EBMRay

    Hi EBMRay,

There are no microsoft documents to compare the Xamarin app and the Field Service (Dynamics 365) mobile app.

Maybe you can refer following links to know differences:

For the price of the license, you can contact salesperson for more deatils:

First...let's be clear.  If you are using the Resco Mobile App, you still need a D365 Field Service license.  You will need a license for D365 FS Mobile as well.  So the licensing piece is the same...EXCEPT go forward (come June 2022, you will also need to license Resco Mobile thru Resco, so add that on top).  Now in terms of your other question:

If you have a qualifying license for a technician (example D365 Customer Service Enterprise for $95, then the FS license would be the FS Attach for an additional $20 PUPM).

    I hope that helps.

    Hello ,

Thank you for providing your answers and the helpful information.

    Fannie30

What about if the technicians have the team member license (we all know that it's limited to many entities that license but it is less cost) does it work with Resco Mobile CRM (after June 2022)?

I look forward to your response.

    Thanks again!

Team member license will not get you what you need from a FS perspective.  You need a full FS license to do anything on the mobile platform.

    Hello Fannie30 ,

    Thank you for your reply.

Regarding this matter, I have the last concern:

What can be the solution for that case:

Some of our technicians do not require to use all the FS Mobile app features, what is needed from those technicians is to manage their work orders (change the status of WO, ask the customer to sign the WO, and check their bookings calendar).

To pay 95$/user/month will be too much for a technician that will have a base functionality to perform simple tasks in the FS mobile app since we're only using WO, Booking entities.

    1. If we kept their D365 Team member license does the FS mobile app will work based on the above scenario?

    2. If not, can we build a Power Apps canvas app by leveraging those two entities and pay/assign 5$/user/app (Power Apps per app plan)? Is that option will work? Can you mention what might be the limitations if we used canvas with Team member license or the standalone Power Apps license?

    Would highly appreciate your answers.

I look forward to your response.

    Best regards,

    EBMRay

Hi! We use Team Member lisence for our techincians. They do what you describe above..

Booking, workorders and some other entities. So far this work very good for us. Even some office workers use this lisence, because they only need limited access. The rest on office use full lisence.

    Hi Orjan Aadalen ,

    Thank you for your reply.
According to the below screenshot, Microsoft mentioned clearly on the D365 Licensing Guide that people with D365 Team Member license cannot access the FS mobile app (but practically we can access it) and they cannot use the Offline sync feature.

    FS-Mobile.PNG

Maybe we can access it because we are under a trial period but I think that one day (after the trial period expires) the FS mobile app might stop for the users that hold that license?
In that case, we are taking a risk. What is your opinion regarding the above?

    Looking forward to your response.
    Thank you!

I'd like to toss my two cents here and hopefully it'll help.

You are correct below, that using the FS app as you are with the Teammember licenses is outside the License agreement for those licenses. Full FS licenses are required to perform full create/read/update/delete operations whether through the mobile or web platforms.

For point 2, based on this (docs.microsoft.com/.../data-platform-restricted-entities) you will not be able to make use of the WO and Booking (and related Booking) entities in a custom PowerApp, but at the moment, you'll notice that site indicates:

"App makers, who are building custom apps, can use all of the Microsoft Dataverse tables available within Common Data Model to create apps and flows for users who have any version of Power Apps and Power Automate license."

Also, you might be able to churn out a model-driven app quicker than a canvas one if you're pressed for time.

You'll also want to consider capacities granted by your licenses as a $5 plan only gives 50mb for database storage and 400mb for files (if your techs take photos, save pdfs, etc.)

Note: Page 5 of this document (go.microsoft.com/.../ says that PowerApps users now have access to the work orders entity, so I'm not sure what to tell you here. Might be better to talk to an MS person or CSP
