Secure Global Address Book by Legal Entity

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

I have a requirement to secure the global address book party records by legal entity. A recent Microsoft article highlights that it should be possible, however it doesnt provide any guidance on implementing it. (Link Below)

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/fin-and-ops/organization-administration/overview-global-address-book

Is anyone able to advise how to secure GAB by LE? Currently on D365O update3.

Thanks - Pete.

    Hi Pete,

I have sent a mail to a contact within the product team responsible for this. I had contact with them as it was not implemented in the first versions of D365. The version you mention is at least not having the address book security.

This feature was not implemented in the new July release, or I haven't got the latest version...

So let's see if the product team can comment on this.

    Hi Pete,

Microsoft quickly responded to me. The documentation was not correct for D365. It will be updated. I do think it was a copy of AX2012.

Good news: Microsoft informed me that they will start working on it for a future release. No date announced yet as it should be implemented in a different way in D365 compared to AX2012.

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for the quick action & confirmation.

Is there another mechanism that I can use to segregate party information to limit the view of what the users in a legal entity can view (eg address books / teams)?

    Thanks - Pete

    Hi Pete,

I intended to try out a solution, but has not found the time yet. Currently it requires a customization on XDS or additional filtering.

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for the information. I was looking as well to solve the issue to hide some vendors for specific users. If the address book security is working, does this also applies to the orders made for this vendor. Will the purchase orders of this vendor also be hided?

    Any news on this topic?

    Kind  regards

    Hi Gert,

The original question is related to Dynamics 365. I don't know if your question is also D365 related. In AX2012 also orders and many other related tables are secured.

    Hi Andre,

Yes the question is D365 related. We have to decide to develop or wait for this address book security. When this functionality comes available in D365, we hope this will be related to the orders and invoices as well. If this was the case in AX2012 then hopefully this will be the same for D365.

Any news if the address book security will become available soon in D365. Is it expected in 2018?

    Kind regards

    Hi Gert,

I had contacts with a person responsible a while ago. They want to begin a similar feature. I didn't get any statement when...
