Hello, when we integrate an invoice file/data (via integration manager), we want to store an external ID. Right now we are embedding as much info into docnumbr/aptodcnm as we can, but this is not going to last since its only 21 chars and we still want users to be able to search against docnumbr meaningfully. To summarize, I would like to be able to uniquely reference external items from dynamics to external sources while keeping other columns searchable with meaningful information, so keeping the original invoice number in docnumbr, etc.

It would be really nice if we could add a custom field to the transactions form in dynamics that is also searchable so users could just search on that field (which could have all sorts of useful info in it) too.

You could customize the form to add such a field but my recommendation would be to use eOne's Extender tool to add the field. This method would ensure that the field survives upgrades, where a customization may or may not.
