Hello,
We recently enabled the new Business Central 28 feature that allows using dynamic formulas for allowed posting dates.
The formulas seem to work correctly for normal postings such as sales orders and purchase orders. However, we are seeing a problem when posting an assembly order that triggers automatic inventory cost adjustment / value entry adjustment.
Our setup:
Business Central SaaS, version 28.x
No Inventory Periods defined
Work Date is in 2026
Automatic cost adjustment is enabled
Allowed posting date setup using formulas:
Allow Posting From Date Formula: <-CY>
Allow Posting To Date Formula: <CY>
Expected result:
Since the Work Date is in 2026, this should resolve to:
01.01.2026 .. 31.12.2026
Actual result:
When posting a specific assembly order, the posting fails with the following error:
Posting Date is not within your range of allowed posting dates.
From our investigation, the failure happens during the value entry / cost adjustment phase after the main assembly posting starts. The problematic adjustment seems to be related to an old value entry dated 30.09.2025.
The strange part is that if we replace the dynamic formulas with the equivalent fixed dates:
Allow Posting From: 01.01.2026
Allow Posting To: 31.12.2026
then the same assembly order posts successfully.
So the issue does not seem to be the effective posting range itself. It looks as if the dynamic formula range is not being resolved correctly in the inventory cost adjustment / adjustment value entry posting-date logic, even though fixed dates for the same period work.
Has anyone else seen this behavior in BC28?
Can anyone confirm whether this is a known issue with the new dynamic allowed posting date formulas, especially when automatic cost adjustment is triggered by assembly posting?
For now, our only workaround seems to be using fixed allowed posting dates instead of formulas when posting assemblies that may trigger old value entry adjustments.
Thank you in advance for any feedback.
