Analytical Accounting Reports SSRS

Posted on by 7,365

I am about to dig into the AA tables and start creating some reports in SSRS and was wondering if someone had some tricks or views that they used.  I am only vaguely familiar with the table structures at this point but am sure that I will know them very well by the end of this exercise.  I am looking at some of the GP views that already exist and I haven't found one that really suits my needs yet.  We use AA in the most basic ways, no budget, no trees, just coding expenses, mostly from expense reports, against Projects (using the Percentage Allocations), types (Airfare, Taxi, Subway), country, employee name, etc...

Also, has anyone ever had any luck with the FRx Analytical Accounting add-on?  I have messed around bt never really got it to work.  I suppose if it is intuitive and someone tells me that they have success running AA reports in FRx, I might explore that a little more.

Thanks,

Kevin

I'm pretty sure that it first finding the proper install package, then it was the install, and then it was not having any idea where to start with bringing in AA Dimensions.  So as you can see I had multiple problems.

I also remember that you had to configure your AA setup a certain way or FRx wouldn't read the data properly; something about a maximum length of the dimension codes, or maybe it was no spaces in the names.  Anyway, I think I am still going to the SSRS route so I can learn the table structure.  After further inspection, it looks like the views that come with GP are not what I am looking for.  There are quite a few that are for the budgeting part of AA which we don't use.

    Hi,

I have used Frx with AA before, may I know which part that didnt work for you? is it the installation? downloading of the installer? or the report itself?
