Hi All,

I am working on XDS and it's working perfectly.
Earlier the same things is happened with RLS also. But the difference is XDS is based on Security.
But still i have one question why XDS feature introduced in to Dynamics AX 2012.
What is advantage of XDS ? Which is not found in RLS in earlier version (Dynamics AX 2009).
Thanks!
Arpan Sen

    Hi Arpan,

RLS was only a filter on forms. When you have two or more roles with the same table you need to apply id on all roles. When you access the table from outside AX (e.g. business connector), there was no filter applied.

XDS adds statements to queries on AOS level. So the data will be filtered if you have defined multiple roles where only one role has an XDS policy.

Furthermore there is an option to define multiple tables on the same policy. So you can define a policy on the customers table and define that the sales orders also needs to be filtered for the same customers.

In addition you can with XDS also setup rules that a user is allowed to see all data, but only can edit or create records e.g. for his own department.

You can read this technet.microsoft.com/.../dn527195.aspx You can find brief reasons of deprecation here.

It also has link to white paper with more details about XDS.

    Hi Arpan,

What exact examples are you looking for? Multiple constrained tables, write access or both?

You can have a look at one of my blogs which has also an example and some explanation: kaya-consulting.com/restricting-legal-entities-based-on-assigned-organizations-ax-2012
