Investment or Portfolio Management Extension

Any recommendations for an Investment or Portfolio Management extension for Business Central?  I see a few on App Source, but would rather hear feedback from end users.  Look forward to a response.
I have the same question (0)

I suggest you contact the partners on AppSource directly. You can request a trial version to test whether it meets your needs.
You can also submit this request to Microsoft.
Missing a feature? Post or vote for ideas on: aka.ms/BCIdeas

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hi,

You can try NProgression Investments App - Microsoft Marketplace | cloud solutions, AI apps, and agents

Take demo and validate as per your need from partner. Just suggestion, no endorsement.

    Hello ,

I can’t vouch for “best” Investment/Portfolio apps based on real end-user reviews in this chat (no live AppSource/user-feedback access), but a solid approach in Business Central is: only buy a portfolio add-on if you truly need portfolio-specific features (market pricing/valuations, FX, realized vs unrealized, corporate actions, custodian/bank feeds, proper posting/audit), otherwise many customers get what they need with standard BC + dimensions + recurring journals + Power BI; if you share the 2–4 AppSource apps you’re considering and your must-haves (asset types, pricing source, accounting/reporting needs), I can help you pick the right one and give a tight “pilot test” checklist to validate fit quickly.

I would personally recommend you work with a partner to perform an assessment of your requirements and demo different apps. There are several approaches you can take. Depending on your use cases, processes and other requirements it will change what you will need to do. There isn't a one size fits all approach.

    1. Just use dimensions, one for Investments and one for Portfolio or potentially more. You can then use a mix of general ledger entries and statistical non-financial entries to post transactions and track everything just using standard BC. Easiest and simplest approach but may result in extra manual work (this can be mitigated by just importing journal lines)

    2. Look at a comprehensive add-in such as Elysys that has a fully built out add-in for BC focused on investments and portfolios. This is a purpose built specific tool. This could be the most timely approach but would get you an industry specific solution.

    3. Complete a smaller customization with a partner in tandem with point 1. This could be quicker and tailored to your companies processes and scenarios but customizations can grown in scope quickly.

    4. Look at a smaller specific add-in that some other users have mentioned in this thread. This is a bit of a middle ground and you will be dependant on a tool that you can't modify in most cases.

I've worked with clients who have taken all approaches. There isn't an approach I would say is better than others. If you're just looking to get started in BC and get in the system quick then the first approach might be best for you.

Most BC portfolio/investment extensions are fine for light-to-medium requirements, but once you need advanced treasury, compliance, or multi-entity investment tracking, many companies eventually move toward D365 Finance instead.

    I’d recommend checking:

    • Scalability
    • Audit/compliance features
    • Power BI integration
    • Banking/treasury connectivity
    • Real customer references, not just AppSource ratings

Would help to know whether this is for real estate, funds, treasury, or general portfolio tracking.

    Hi,

The BC investment and portfolio management space on AppSource is quite thin. The one name that comes up most often is Elysys Wealth, native on BC for over 15 years, aimed at family offices, wealth managers and treasury operations. It covers paper investments, money markets, derivatives, structured products, private equity and alternatives. The feedback you find around says that putting Elysys on top of BC closes the month-end reconciliation gap, since trades booked during the day hit the general ledger the same day, and auditors usually notice a cleaner trail. Pricing is per seat, per custodian, or per feature.

Beyond Elysys, most other tools in this space, like Dynamo, FundCount, AlternativeSoft, Allvue, are standalone platforms, not BC extensions, so they need integration work to talk with BC.

Honest end-user reviews are not many, most of what is online is vendor material. The Dynamics Community forums and LinkedIn groups are usually a better source for real feedback, and a sandbox trial tells more than any review.
