Hi,
Is territory a out of box entity of Dynamics 365 and how it helps in field service?
Thanks,
Territory is the out of the box territory entity. Territory does several things:
1) if Postal Codes are created and assigned to a Territory, then when the Accounts are created, they will automatically be assigned to a Service Territory.
2) when a work order is created that has that service account, the service territory will also be assigned to that work order.
3) Resources are typically assigned to 1 or more territory. This is useful for large Service Orgs that assign resources to work orders via a territory/zip codes.
4) When scheduling the work orders, the schedule board can be filtered by territory and only show the requirements and resources for that territory.
5) when using the schedule assistant, we can do the same thing and filter by service territory and only see the resources assigned to that territory
