Roll down changes to life insurance rate table?

I ran a test to see if changing the rates in the life insurance rates table would roll down to the employee; it does not appear as though it does.  Is this correct or should the changes roll down?

I believe it should allow you to roll down updates to employee premiums when changing the age-based table associated with a Life Insurance Setup record. Two thoughts:

1 - Ensure you have "Payroll View for Human Resources" marked for the user when saving from the Life Insurance Setup window.

2 - Try changing another piece of information that would get rolled down to the employee (e.g. Plan Term [from] and To dates).

I'm wondering if the system does not know to roll-down the changes if you only change the table.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback, Tom.  The user did have the "Payroll View for HR" marked.    In addition to changing the age-based table, the Frequency was also changed from Biweekly to Weekly and the Fixed Premium amount for Children was also changed, but the rates remained the same.  For kicks, I changed 1 line in the table and the Frequency again, and the rates still remained the same.  Both times, the prompt "Do you want to roll down changes" came up as did the payroll life insurance deduction window and i clicked OK/Save on the prompts.  Since I'm in a test environment, I may try to delete the table, if it lets me, and then enter the new rates.

OK. Sorry that didn't help. Only other thought and probably goes without saying. But ... are the Life Insurance Setup records (Benefit &/or Deduction in Payroll) and the employee enrollments (in HR & Payroll) "Active"? For HR, the Benefit Status may need to be set to "Active".

The majority are active.  I also made sure that at least one of the affected employees had the "Override Premiums" checked before making the change, but no luck.  I'm going to restore and delete/recreate the table and see if I have better results.

Hi!  I tested this out and for codes that are setup as fixed amounts for life, they will roll down the changes.  But on the age base calculation, those will not roll down when you change the age based table at the setup.  This would be a feature change we would need to look at as on the roll down procedure, we do not do the age based calculations at this time, looking what bracket you are in and the amount of life insurance you have to figure out your cost, etc.

    Thanks

Thanks Terry!  We have around 150 employees that have age-based life insurance so it is not insurmountable to do it manually.    If you could remind me where that nifty site is to submit product suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Hi guys, just thinking this through ... when the first user logs in tomorrow, won't the system recalculate the benefit amount for age-based table driven life insurance codes?

You may try to set you system date (computer date) to tomorrow and then login to GP and see if the updates to the employees occur based on the current age-based table.

Makes sense AND it did update the amounts for the employees :) .  Since I had modified the rates table  yesterday, and I'm in the test environment today, I checked about 3 employees at different ages and they do reflect the new amounts.  Pretty snappy ERP package here!!
