Hide or Disable the Advanced and New links in the Lookup dropdown.

Posted on by 30

For security reasons we don't want a subset of our users to have access to the full Item Page when they are performing a Item look-up from a Sales Order line. The drop down search is more than adequate for their needs (and more convenient than a separate window) but that gives them the Advanced link which opens up the Item List. In an ideal world I'd like to control this at the Profile level but even if I have to control it at the Page or Table level, that would be fine.

RE: Hide or Disable the Advanced and New links in the Lookup dropdown.

    Hi Stephen,

We had a similar problem, where the customer wanted the new button removed, and advanced lookup to not have insert/modify/delete permissions.

With inspiration from Kauffmann (www.kauffmann.nl/.../) we ended up copying the lookup page to custom range, removed all page actions, set InsertAllowed,ModifyAllowed,DeleteAllowed to No, and set CardPage to blank.

To make sure the lookup uses our new page, you set the LookupPageID for the field properties to our new custom page.

This removed the New button on the dropdown menu, and if the user pressed Advanced, Nav opens our custom list which only can view data.

    Hope this helps

    Manish,

Even if Advanced option is there, people can not see any other information. Try and see if you are able to go to card page or edit the information?

    Hi Manish,

Go to Item Variant Table (T 5401) > Remove the LookupPageID.

    Hi,

You can manage this via removing the security access or by doing small customisation. If you remove LookupPageID (Item List) from Item Table, user would not be able to go to complete item page.

This would restrict lookup from all the NAV pages (i.e. Sales Order, Purchase Order, Item Journal etc.).

Is it possible to disable just the advanced link? From what I tried it either completely disables the drop down list or it doesn't.
