Key for Microsoft Dynamics RMS

Purchased this Management System back in 2007 or 2008... Have worked along with it now for quit a few years. Still performs as we need. Just purchased New PC's. I then had all of our programs copied and added to the 2 new PC's. The Group that sold us the system out of Sumter , S.C. is either out of business or can not contact him. I need a Key Code to activate the system for the 2 new PC's. I think the sales guy must have takes the Installation Disc last time we saw him about 5 years ago.  How can I get another Key Code to be able to use my management system on my new PC's?   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We are a small company and another management system during this Covid year , just isn't in the business plan.  May in the future.

No I am not a computer specialist. IT people have told me they can not legally do it, because of Microsoft. .... I am not doing anything illegal, I am just trying to use something I purchased years ago..... Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Randy,

    Please ensure you are making database backups (possibly daily); and storing the backups on an external drive.

    Are you getting an error when using the key codes you have?

    No , I still am using the program on a damaged PC... Just trying to get a working Key to be able to reuse the management program I purchased years ago... It is apparent, some IT people in the past that did some work for me , changed somethin, so the Key codes I have do not work for me. Since I am not a computer expert (By far) I am afraid of erasing anything , to just try to reinstall something I am sure may not work.... Just do not have the funds to purchase another management system in these trying times.

    Hi Randy,

    The license key would be on a PID card that was provided when the software was installed; and there is not a way to obtain the License Key from the terminal or from Microsoft Support.

    In looking for keys on customer accounts, it states “Please refer to PID card for key.”

    In addition, it states:

    “Note: Microsoft security standards no longer allow license/registration key information to be sent through email. The recipient of the link will require access to CustomerSource/PartnerSource Business Center to obtain the related key(s)."

    For anyone who is not already aware, Mainstream support for Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0 ended on July 10, 2016; and extended support ends on 7/13/2021:

    This is less than 8 months from now; and you can continue using RMS after this date but technical support will not be available.

    I would recommend checking with your partner in regard to what they may recommend as a replacement system after the extended support end date.

    Hi Randy! 1) Are you current on RMS Maintenance (also referred to as BRAP)? 2) What type of store do you have (eg: Pet Store, Liquor Store, hardware Store, etc)? Have you tried contacting Microsoft Dynamics at 888-477-7877 to see if they can issue you replacement license keys?
